2025 TULSA DOG RUN: By Your Side 5k & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
This Year’s Theme: Heroes Unleashed!
Get ready, heroes, villains, and all who are super in between!
The TULSA DOG RUN: By Your Side 5k & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk is back! And, in 2025, it’s going to be packed with comic book thrills, surprises, and epic adventures! From the first step to the last, you’ll be transported to a world of capes, sidekicks, and everything super.
We’re calling all superheroes (yes, you) to come ready for action—whether you’re speeding through the 5k or strolling the 1-mile fun run. And don’t forget your furry friends! This event wouldn’t be complete without our Costume Contest, where pets and owners alike can show off their best comic book or superhero looks. Who will win Best Dressed Sidekick? Or Most Heroic Hound? The sky’s the limit!
What Should I Expect?
- Professional USATF-certified 5K Race Course. (Note: There are two different 5k events. The 5k (Humans Only) run will begin at 9:00 AM, and the 5k With Your Dog is five minutes later. The 5k Run for Humans Only event is sanctioned by the USATF, while the 5k with Your Dog is not.
- Awards for Top Three by Age Group and Top 3 Best Overall!
- Live DJ and plenty of vendors for shopping and browsing!
- Lots of fun CONTESTS with PRIZES, including
- Cutest Dog (categorized by size)
- Comic Book Costume Contest for Pets and Their Owners
- Lots of Comic-Book Inspired Surprises for the Whole Family!
- The 1 Mile Dog Walk & Fun Run is for Families, Kids, and Dogs of All Ages.
- No Dog? No problem. Plenty of Amenities for just Walkers & Runners, Too.

Shelter #3 is located not far from the Tulsa Zoo.
Early Packet Pick-Up Available:
Early packet pick-up will be available on Thursday, October 2, and Friday, October 3, 2025. More details on times and location forthcoming.
Race Day Check-In and Registration
Race day check-in and registration are open at 8:00 AM on race day and closes at 8:50 AM. (Don’t be late!).
Medals and Timing
All dogs will receive a pet participation medal during the day of the event, whether they participate in the 5k or 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The timed medals are for 5k Runners and are awarded based on performance.
Please Note: If you register your run time with USATF, they recognize your run time for the 5k Solo Run ONLY that begins at 9:00 A.M.

The TULSA DOG RUN raises money for Parkside’s By Your Side Patient Assistance Program, which provides essential resources such as food assistance, clothing assistance, school supplies, and transportation for medical treatment to those in need.
By incorporating dogs into the event, it not only adds a fun and engaging element but also reinforces the importance of pet companionship for mental health and well-being. The event brings together a community of dog owners and animal lovers who want to make a difference in the lives of others and their furry friends. The funds raised through the event can help Parkside continue to provide vital support to our indigent patient population, enabling them to access the necessities they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
This program allows our patients in need to receive the following at no cost:
- Non–perishable food and personal hygiene items for themselves and family members.
- Clothing Assistance
- Treatment Transportation
- School Supplies for Kids
- Books to encourage reading and feed active minds!

About the weather:
While we realize that each of the By Your Side run participants has made a tremendous commitment, the primary goal for the event staff is to ensure a safe and fun event for everyone. Therefore, the race staff will make decisions about the race cancellations/modifications based on the safety of all that are involved – this includes the participants, the volunteers, the spectators and pets. The race staff reserves the right to cancel or to modify the race if deemed necessary due to potentially hazardous conditions. It is the intent of the race staff to host a rain or shine event, however potentially hazardous conditions including thunderstorms, wind, hail or lightning may force cancellation. These conditions will be recognized as unforeseeable acts. Since the staging of the race results in substantial up-front expenses regardless of whether or not the race is completed, cancellation of the race will not result in the refunding of race entry fees or future race credits. Race staff will be on site and you can visit about weather considerations with them. Please watch weather conditions yourself and make informed decisions.
