Summary:
Sand Tray play therapy has its roots in the work of Carl Jung, Dora Kalff, and Margaret Lowenfield. It is an expressive technique that does not require any special skills on behalf on the client. This workshop will cover the foundations of utilizing sand tray in play therapy. Several different theoretical modalities of sand tray work will be presented and discussed. Specifics of sand tray work will be outlined within a developmental framework.

- Participants will discuss 2 foundational concepts in Sand Tray Therapy.
- Participants will analyze 3 interventions in Sand Tray Play Therapy.
- Participants will describe the role of the clinician in Sand Tray Therapy.
- Participants will critique 2 Sand Tray Theoretical concepts.
CEUS : Oklahoma LPC, LADC & CADC (2 hrs. Mental Health), LCSW, LMFT and Case Management. Nursing and other disciplines: certificate of participation.
About the Presenter
Sharolyn Wallace PhD, LCSW, RPT-S, IMHE, Eagala ES/MH
Dr. Wallace has been the Professor of Human Services for 31 years at Tulsa Community College. She has served as the National Board Chair for the Association for Play Therapy, Board Chair for the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers, Board Member for the National Association for Social Workers, and Board of Directors for the Association of Social Work Boards. Dr. Wallace has served on the Oklahoma State Boards of Play Therapy and Social Work. In 2016, Dr. Wallace was named the Oklahoma Social Worker of the Year. She was also awarded the C.V. Ramana Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Mental Health of Oklahoma’s Children. She won the prestigious award of Miss Horsemanship at Miss Rodeo USA and Miss Appearance at Pinto International Queen contest. Dr. Wallace is the author of six children’s books “The Adventures of Bruce, Ben, and Gerry” based on the horses at her ranch. She is a sought after speaker and presenter in the areas of equine, play therapy and social work. Dr. Wallace and her husband, Charlie live on the CS Ranch in Hominy, Oklahoma with over 35 beautiful horses.
