Kitty Committee

Parkside’s Kitty Committee

Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic is a nonprofit organization that strives to provide outstanding mental health and support services. Some of Parkside’s employees have extended their love for taking care of patients to a love for taking care of cats as well. Feral cats have become cohabitants in the neighborhood around Parkside and on our property, bringing to our attention that they need to be cared for. In addition to developing a feeding schedule and arranging shelter for the cats, we have put together a Kitty Committee to decide on how to prevent further growth in the population by spaying and neutering, as well as developing a plan for aftercare after these procedures take place. As much as we want to take care of our furry friends, there are costs in caring for these cool cats. We estimate the cost of care for each cat is approximately $40 a month. The cost of spaying and neutering is $20 per cat. We have between 12 to 15 cats! Our hopes in this process, is that all the cats are spayed and neutered with a healthy healing process, they may continue to be loved and cared for, and that if possible, they may be adopted by a caring family. If you are interested in helping in any way, please feel free to donate. If you are interested in adopting, please let us know. The members of the Kitty Committee and all of the kitties are very grateful for your help and contributions. Thank you.

Some of our neighbors seeking homes:

Cat 1

Staff Pic

This good looking kitty is often around the residential building and has let people pet him/her.

Cat 2

Staff Pic

She/he is pretty shy but seems to have a gentle and sweet personality. He is seen mostly by the hospital building.

Fleayonce

She has a gentle, sweet personality and is very curious about people but shy and a bit fearful. He would take a lot of patience and time to warm up if adopted.

Frankie

Parkside’s Kitty Committee would like you to meet Frankie. Frankie is a sweet little boy who was rescued from the cold. He was malnourished when he went to his foster home, but with loving care and a good diet, Frankie is growing stronger and is a happy kitten. Frankie uses his litter box, loves to play, and sleeps in his little bed. If you are interested in adopting Frankie and giving him a forever home, please contact kbishop@parksideinc.org or akmacdougall@parksideinc.org.

Cat 5

Cat 6

Homeless and curious

Cat 7

Most often seen by the clinic building, he/she appears to be gradually coming closer to people. This cat was captured, neutered and released to prevent increased population of feral cats in the area.  It is an apparently healthy, attractive cat that would do much better with a real home.

Three kittens - about 7 weeks old

These three cuties need homes.  They are in temporary foster care and are taking well to socialization. They were removed due to incoming bad weather and to socialize them for adoption.

ALL THREE KITTENS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!

Bullseye

She's named for the target on her side, but what she is targeting is a new home.   She's shy and will need time and socialization, but she is young and should be a great pet for many years.

BULLSEYE HAS BEEN ADOPTED (and most likely renamed!)

Cat 10
